The weekly “little of this, little of that” feature from Like Mother, Like Daughter!
Last weekend we held a baby shower here for Suki and Dino – not too much longer to wait on that front!! It was a fun time.
That evening, the Artist and I were able to sit outside for dinner and enjoy the remains of the party setup. Peaceful date night at home, with the baby in bed. Sigh.
This week's links!
- David Clayton, (co-author, you'll recall, of The Little Oratory), recently wrote an interesting piece about the order of nature and beauty with a perspective I think I'd literally never thought of before: Come out of the Wilderness and Into the Garden. What do you think about this argument?
- Apparently we ladies are on a serious gimmicky musical performance kick, because I keep receiving these fun clips to post! This time it's a dozen pianists playing at one piano.
- For a little literary foray, check out this correspondence in which Famous Novelists Discuss Intentionality of Symbolism.
- Happy Mother's Day weekend! Here's a curious bit of history about the Woman Who Founded Mother's Day.
- Did you see that there's now a Facebook page up for The Little Oratory? We hope that it will keep readers informed regarding news on the book and speaking/book-signing events that might happen in your area! If you are enthusiastic about the book, please do share the page and let your friends know! Thank you so much for all the support you've shown already! You're the best!
- There are several saints to remember and celebrate today!
- And May: the Month of Mary (full of helpful ideas and links) will help you get in gear with Marian devotions!

can you suggest to Habou that a blog can have comment approval or capcha code….but not both? 😉

Iirc, Michael Pollan’s Second Nature makes a similar argument ( in the form of memoirs) that environmentalists should use the garden as the ideal model for pursuing policies that govern man/nature interaction instead of one where man is seen as wholly apart from an uncultivated wilderness. It’s a great read.

David Clayton articulated what I’ve been thinking for years! Thank you for linking that post.

Awesome article by Mr. Clayton. I so enjoyed that! I sometimes wonder if I’m the only one who feels ‘modern’ usually equals ‘ugly’!?
