Did you remember to light your second Advent candle yesterday? Don't worry, you can do it tonight. It's getting exciting! Unless you're me, and that panicky clutching feeling sets in. Why am I never ready for anything?
And, of course, nothing like a flat tire to facilitate Christmas shopping.
Yes, even the most strong-minded Advent celebrator must still shop for Christmas presents.
But not me, not today. š
Never mind.
Let's follow Mary on her journey with the great Joseph, her protector.
It's cold, she doesn't know where she will have have this babe, but she is serene. And a little playful too? Don't worry about getting the kids to do stuff. Don't let that feeling that you should be doing more prevent you from actually experiencing this season. All the preparations that we normally go through: the making, the baking, the candle-lighting — those are a “lesson” in themselves, if done in the right spirit.

Auntie Leila- I have been trying to find the place to ask a question, but I just can't seem to. Drat!! We are approaching the time that I begin to worry about Christmas shopping. We have seven kids, ages 13 to 5 months. I know that I shouldn't be WORRYING about advent, I should be anticipating it. I am very frugal normally, and times are very tight right now. I would love it if you could give some tips on gift giving on a shoestring- including etiquette on thrift store finds as gifts. I want advent to keep it's proper focus, and I would like to be able to give the people I care about thoughtful, affordable gifts. I would also like my children to appreciate the season AND love the gifts they've received.
Thank you in advance-
Amy
