Upcoming:
May 2, 6:30 pm, Mount Royal Academy, 26 Seven-Hearth Lane
Sunapee, NH: Liturgical Living in the Home. This event is sponsored by Thomas More College's Center for the Restoration of Christian Culture.
If you are interested in having Leila speak, please email LMLDblog (at) gmail (dot) com for availability and costs. She would love to come speak to your group! Go here to listen to some talks and interviews she's given. Leila is open to tele-conferencing with your group!
Leila will speak on just about anything! Possible topics:
- The Creative Woman — What a Woman Is and Does to be “made in the Image of God”
- Order and Wonder — A vision for the environment in the home, for education and family life (this talk is especially suitable for home schooling conferences).
- Praying in the Home, Saving the World — The Little Oratory: An organizing principle for connecting personal prayer to the life of Faith, with peace and a sense of tradition — a talk about the book that Leila co-authored with David Clayton, with illustrations by Deirdre.
- Four Secrets to Destruction-Proofing Your Family — In this age of divorce and broken homes, should you be afraid? Don't be afraid! Is there anything you can do to ward off destruction? Yes!
- Liturgical Living: Patterning your life in accord with the rhythm of the Church — Move beyond “activities” and special desserts (not that we are against those!) and into the ancient way of living simply with the patterns established by the cosmos, tradition, and Scripture.
- Competence vs. Perfection — How to rescue your life in the age of Pinterested-up unreality and false perfectionism, without ending up a mess.
- How Beauty Will Save the World and Why Woman Is at the Heart of It — Our age has taken a “flight from woman”: how to recover truth, beauty, and goodness for the sake of the world.
- Maybe We Are Wrong: A defense of sexual complementarity. Is equality the final word on the relationship between the sexes? Is there an Original Plan that furthers the flourishing of life? It means something to be a man, to be a woman.
“Mrs. Lawler's talk was intellectual and a call to arms, with great instructions for parents. It was not at all what I expected, and so much more . . . I was surprised to see such a variety of age groups, from 20 somethings to grandmas. Her message is universally appealing.” Stacy, Portland, OR
“The best speakers say volumes by their mien and comportment alone, their ability to hold an audience in the grasp of their words. Mrs. Lawler does this and more, embodying her “Auntie Leila” persona for the great benefit of both her audience and message. It is one thing to deliver good content in a speech, but another to make swallowing the medicine of your argument seem delightful as well as restorative to the listener. This is even more important when one's message pertains to the role of beauty and good form interspersed within our daily lives. Mrs. Lawler delivers on all accounts, and I can only count it a blessing that she made her way to Wichita to share her wisdom with us.” Bo Bonner, Newman University, Wichita, KS
“Leila's talks and book have received rave reviews from so many people who attended the event. The Creative Woman talk, in particular, is prophetic: Leila brings together the philosophical and theological ideas to support the woman's unique role in God's plan for salvation beautifully. She speaks of so many truths that are simply not articulated today (or at least not in public!). She is courageous and her testimony will surely bless many women who already hear a still, small voice prompting them to take a less-traveled path.” Emily and Jake Barton, Wheaton, IL
“Like her blog and her book, Leila Lawler's presentation renders intelligible — even achievable — the lofty notion that spouses and parents must and can play an elemental role in God's glorious plan for mankind. She deftly moves from interpreting magisterial texts to offering practical suggestions from her wealth of experience as a convert and a mother. By focusing on gifts the Church has long made available to parents while also encouraging couples to honor their family's particular character, Mrs. Lawler places family prayer squarely within reach of any Catholic household. Indeed, her talk and book make even the most ‘religious' parent wonder: ‘Has this been here the whole time? How could I have missed it?'” ~ Mary Catherine Hodes, St. Louis, MO
“Your presentation here in Columbia, SC was certainly helpful for families trying to create the “little church” in their home. “The Little Oratory” is a valuable resource for families striving to establish a spiritual culture in their home and I pray it will become more well known among all Christian families!” ~ Deacon Patrick Mongan, Columbia, SC

I am so excited to see you are going to Columbia! So excited, in fact, that I told my mother about it on the phone today (I used to live there and sadly don’t anymore, but she still does!) and I had trouble finding the conference. The title is “Family Fully Alive” according to my internet searches 🙂 I hope my mother will be able to hear you speak!
