~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
{pretty}
I think last weekend Pippo must have suggested about twenty times that it was time for us to go for a walk “to get branches and berries for our Advent wreath.” And then when when we finally did collect our bag of greenery from our backyard, we couldn't put our wreath together right away because there was a deer being butchered on our dining room table after Capt. P's successful hunting trip that morning. (I did actually take a few photos of that, too, but I will spare you. It certainly doesn't fit in the “pretty” category… more like “oh my!”)
So the wreath-making had to be delayed until Sunday afternoon. My little helper found it hard to wait, but was very satisfied in the end.
The lights by the creche were the last ones on before I went to bed last night — I couldn't help taking a quick picture with my phone before I pulled out the plug. There's something irresistible about little twinkly lights!
{happy}
A year after we dug the pond out of our front garden, we still haven't replaced it with anything. We do occasionally talk about planting some pretty flowers in that space, but the kids just love it so much as a place to dig and play in the dirt that I'm not sure I'll ever have the heart to do it! It's one of their favorite spots.
Maybe by this time next year we'll have mustered up a little more curb appeal than our current trucks and tools, but for now we're rockin' the dirt pile.
This photo has a certain “bottoms up!” quality to it that I find particularly amusing.
Note: at fifteen months old, Molly finally has just barely enough hair for pigtails!
{funny}
Speaking of Molly's adorably silly hair, note her glowing mohawk. I couldn't love this picture more.
She loves dressing up, whether it's attempting to stomp around in my shoes, wearing sunglasses during lunch, or putting on parts of Pippo's Halloween costume. But sometimes even superhero knights need to put down their sword and shield and grab their babies for a quick cuddle.
{real}
I started to make my Thanksgiving master list but then made the mistake of leaving it — and my pen — out on the counter. Pippo got hold of both, and helped me add to the list in between helping me with prep work.
As for our Thanksgiving itself (was it really only a week ago? Is it just me, or does it seem like so much longer?), it was lovely. Delicious. Exhausting. I had grand intentions of taking lots of pictures, but in fact only took one of Pippo, who had set up watch over the pies before our guests arrived.
Do you like our leaf garland? Would you believe that Deirdre and Auntie Leila sent us a fall care package including some beautiful waxed leaves after I complained about how much I missed autumn in New England? I'm a little spoiled.
And now I can't bear to take it down, even though I've set up a creche underneath it, complete with greenery and twinkle lights. It's a look, I'm sure.

I love that first photograph, the one of the leaves against the sky. Just lovely! I’m going to try those waxes leaves next year, if I remember and the leaves are nice; this year, most of them just turned brown and dropped. Only the maples stayed pretty. 🙂

I absolutely love the photos of your kids…

That Molly is so adorable in her dress up outfit of choice. And the artistry of those pies, that deserves its own close up and tutorial. A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you inspiring Lawler ladies. Please tell the chief I enjoyed his piece that was circulated on Spirit Daily a few weeks back.

I love your banner over the serving table for Thanksgiving! How sweet.

I love that they sent you leaves! That would be so sad to not have leaves in the fall!

Rosie! You are a Thanksgiving rockstar with those pies..and with two littlest and being preggers…high five! I feel you on the hair style thing… it cracks me up when I will meet adorable one week old babies with more hair than my three year old 🙂 God bless your Advent season…

That photo of Molly is downright magical… in a hilarious sort of way. The Artist says “#flo-hawk” or, alternatively, “#glow-hawk.” (Please note that he is not generally a hashtagg-er.)

Molly’s hair! Molly’s superhero-knight-mama costume! Oh my goodness.
I have a Molly too, her dress-up item of choice is my (wedding – never worn since) pair of high heels 😀

That dress up picture is priceless!

That glowing mohawk photo is gorgeous and the one of her dressing up is just perfect. Beautiful Advent decor too! 🙂
