The weekly “little of this, little of that” feature from Like Mother, Like Daughter!
This week, the Artist, Finnabee, and I had the blessing of heading to southwestern Florida for a vacation with (most of) the Artist's side of the family. I was fairly unplugged during our time on the beach, splashing and playing games, so I wasn't doing much internet browsing. And since we're just coming out of travel-recovery mode, I'm sure you will excuse the lateness of this posting!
This week's links!
- In light of this week's tragic loss of a great talent, I think it's fitting to give a listen to Friend Like Me, especially in case you needed a reminder of what a Robin Williams was capable of — in my opinion, probably the best of all Disney songs.
- Here's an uplifting obituary for a solid Catholic family man, and a reminder for us of what we're going for, in the big picture: St. Peter parishioner lived a faith-filled century.
- I recently felt inspired when I found myself poking around on Gennine's Art Blog.
- To take some lessons from business correspondence: 10 Words People Who Lack Confidence Always Use.
- And, speaking of words, you might be interested in the language quiz How Many English Words do you Actually Know?
- Auntie Leila recommends Simply Recipes as a straightforward, helpful resource for, simply, recipes… She likes the tone and finds that the comments are often helpful.
From the Archives:
- Peas and Bees: Two DIYers puttering around. It has been so fun to be staying here, at the LMLD homestead, over the summer. You wouldn't believe how much beekeeping wisdom has been soaked up by my husband, the Artist, who declares himself deathly afraid of bees and yet cannot hear enough about them from the Chief! I'm sure he never would have guessed that he would know so much about how to tend to and harvest from the fascinating (and, to him, frightening) creatures.
- Naptime DIY: greeting card mobile!
In the Liturgical year: Today is the memorial of St. Stephen of Hungary!

25/30 on that quiz…I’m pretty proud of myself! Although I doubt my mother, who teaches English, would be pleased with anything less than a 100%!
